This is the only "gun" that can fire underwater, which is completely irrelevant most of the time and critical when it is relevant. If you don't have this weapon, you're doing something wrong. The stealth pistol is an excellent mainstay for the early missions and is a useful sidearm to a player that prefers a beefier weapon. Like the standard pistol it can be modified into a superior weapon, but its natural advantages over its louder brother don't hold up when both weapons have been tricked out.and that's a lot of modifications to sink into a redundant weapon. The high rate of fire and low recoil turns it into a poor man's assault rifle, and it is more than capable of taking down most enemies in short order. Where the stealth pistol excells, however, is in close combat. You don't have one-shot-one-kill capability with this weapon, don't even try. The downside? Damage per shot is pathetic. It shares many of the traits of the standard pistol, but adds a silencer, a larger clip, and a larger rate of fire. Let's be honest, the stealth pistol completely fails as an assassin's weapon. Ammunition becomes scarce in the late game, but 200 bullets is more than you'll need anyway. It's thematically appropriate, versatile, and powerful. This weapon is my favorite for stealth runs. As Alex says, remember that a headshot is an instant takedown. At high skill levels and with a few Accuracy and Clip modifications, this basic weapon becomes servicable at all ranges and against all nonrobotic opponents. The pistol can get a scope and a laser, but not a silencer.
The basic pistol is a subpar weapon, slow to fire and hard to aim, but take a look at the damage of each shot. This category only includes three weapons, but there isn't a bad choice in the lot of them. You always start Trained with pistol weapons and these are the majority of weapons seen in the first levels, so everyone is familiar with them.
